ORLANDO, Feb. 24, 2021 – The Oklahoma City Blue (7-2) fell to the Greensboro Swarm (4-5), 120-118, on Wednesday afternoon.

The Swarm struck first as Grant Riller led them to an early 10-point lead in the first quarter. The Blue responded with a run of 18 unanswered points in the second, scoring a season-high 44 points and hitting seven threes to take a 68-65 lead into halftime.

After the break, Oklahoma City went on a 22-5 run to stretch its lead to 20. The Swarm chipped away at the deficit starting with a 14-4 run early in the fourth. Down seven, Greensboro’s Nick Richards drained a straight-away three to make it a four-point game with 5:58 remaining.

Riller drew a foul with a minute remaining and made 1-of-2 from the line to bring the game within two at 118-116. On their next possession, Kobi Simmons grabbed an offensive rebound and kicked it out to Riller for the go-ahead three and the Blue were unable to convert on the other end.

Thunder two-way player Moses Brown scored a career-high-tying 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting and grabbed 17 rebounds. Thunder assignment player Ty Jerome hit a team-best 4-of-7 from behind the arc for 14 points to go with 5 rebounds.

“Credit to Greensboro,” Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. “They played really well, and we knew they were a talented team. It’s a 48-minute game. We say that all the time, but there were a lot of runs, a lot of times in the game where they played really well, made shots, executed. We had some periods of the game where we caught our rhythm, but down the stretch in the fourth quarter, we didn’t execute well enough and didn’t get enough stops. We have to learn from this one and watch the film.”

Five Oklahoma City players scored in double figures. Ömer Yurtseven finished with his fourth double-double off the bench with 17 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 7-of-10. Antonius Cleveland produced 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Rob Edwards tallied 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Zavier Simpson dished a game-high seven assists to go with his eight points. Thunder assignment player Aleksej Pokuševski recorded six points, five rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal.

Nick Richards led Greensboro with 20 points and 14 rebounds while swatting five blocks.

The Blue will return to The Field House on Friday, Feb. 26, facing off against the Austin Spurs at 2:30 p.m. CT.
