DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 6, 2019 – The Oklahoma City Blue (18-6) used a hot shooting night to defeat the Iowa Wolves (8-16), 134-106 on Sunday night.
Oklahoma City shot a season-high 61.4 percent (54-of-88) from the field and had seven players in double figures, led by 22 points from Richard Solomon.
After the first quarter, Oklahoma City held a slim 30-29 lead, but went on a 21-6 run midway through the second quarter, sparked by a three-pointer from Bryce Alford, and led 71-57 at halftime. The Blue never trailed again in the game.
Two-way players Deonte Burton and Donte Grantham combined for 29 points in the first half and finished with 18 points and 19 points, respectively. Alford contributed 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the bench.
The Blue outrebounded the Wolves, 46-37 and scored 76 points in the paint to Iowa’s 52.
The Wolves were led by Jonathan Stark who tallied 21 points, four rebounds and five assists, and Thomas Welsh who finished with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.
Oklahoma City returns home to face the Austin Spurs on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Cox Convention Center.
