Brown Nets 41 as Blue Comes Up Short Against Herd

OSHKOSH, Wisc., Dec. 8, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (7-7) fell to the Wisconsin Herd (9-4), 113-111, on Friday night.

The final 13 seconds of the game featured three lead changes as the teams battled, but Markel Brown’s 32-foot lob at the final buzzer fell short, giving the Herd the victory. Xavier Munford led Wisconsin with 25 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals.

The Herd jumped out to an early lead to start the game, going up by as many as 14 points in the first half until a Brown three-point jumper to end the third quarter gave the Blue its first lead of the game at 81-80. With five minutes remaining in the fourth, Brown drained three consecutive threes to give Oklahoma City a five-point lead, its biggest of the game, but Wisconsin quickly regained the advantage.

Brown led the charge for Oklahoma City with a career-high 41 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, with 34 of his points coming in the second half of play. Rashawn Thomas produced 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Myke Henry also tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blue had five players in double figures and snagged 12 steals to generate 24 points off 22 Herd turnovers, but were outshot from the field 51.2 percent to 39.8 percent.

The Blue will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 10 as they take on the Memphis Hustle for the second time this season at 4 p.m. at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss.
