SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Jan. 25, 2018 – The Oklahoma City Blue (17-14) rallied to beat the Santa Cruz Warriors (17-14), 113-108, on Thursday night.
Oklahoma City trailed 92-79 heading into the fourth quarter, but a three-pointer from Bryce Alford capped an 14-1 run, tying the game at 93-all with under nine minutes left in the game. The two teams went back and forth for the rest of the frame, but Dakari Johnson scored 12 points in the quarter to lead the Blue to victory.
Johnson, on assignment from the Thunder, led all scorers with 29 points to go along with 13 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Alford scored 20 points on 7-13 shooting, his second consecutive game with 20-plus points.
The Blue opened the game strong and led 35-29 after the first quarter, behind 12 points from Javan Felix. The second quarter saw the Warriors’ James Southerland score 13 of the team’s 42 points, leaving Oklahoma City trailing 71-54 at halftime.
Southerland finished with 21 points while Warriors two-way player Quinn Cook led the team with 23 points and 12 assists.
The Blue grabbed 47 rebounds and tallied 19 second-chance points to the Warriors’ seven.
Oklahoma City wraps its road trip at the South Bay Lakers on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. CT at the UCLA Health Training Center.
