OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 19, 2018 – The Oklahoma City Blue (16-12) was edged by the Reno Bighorns (16-11), 110-106, on Friday night.
The Blue battled back from an eight-point deficit at the end of the first quarter (30-22), by going on an 11-0 run midway through the second. Bryce Alford led the charge, contributing seven of those 11 points, to help the team take a 53-52 lead going into halftime.
Oklahoma City held the lead throughout the second half, going up by as many as 10 points, until the end of the fourth when Reno went on a 12-2 run of their own with three minutes remaining. The Blue was unable to regain the lead.
“I thought we played a really good floor game for most of the game, just didn’t do a great job of closing down the stretch,” said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. “There is stuff we can definitely build on, but there is stuff we can learn from as well.”
Two-way player PJ Dozier was the Blue’s leading scorer with 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting, seven rebounds, and one assist. Two-way player Daniel Hamilton was one rebound shy of a double-double posting 18 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Javan Felix tied his career high of 12 points along with four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Jack Cooley of the Bighorns posted a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds.
The Blue will take on the Memphis Hustle next on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at the Cox Convention Center.
