Blue Ends on a High Note in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 28, 2019 – The Oklahoma City Blue (23-9) defeated the Salt Lake City Stars (15-15), 117-110, on Monday night.

Oklahoma City was the first to strike, going on a 12-4 run early in the first frame to earn a 40-28 advantage at the end of the quarter. Salt Lake City responded with 16 unanswered points to start the second and entered the break up 54-52.

The Stars then expanded their lead to as many as nine points in the third quarter, but the visitors went on a 15-4 run to end the frame back on top by four. The home team battled back to regain the edge five minutes into the fourth, but the Blue outscored the Stars 17-3 in the final 2:36 of the game to earn the win.

Two-way player Deonte Burton led the way for Oklahoma City with a career-high-tying 24 points, six assists, three rebounds and a steal, draining three shots from beyond the arc. Off the bench, Bryce Alford went 5-of-10 from long range and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line to tally 23 points.

Scotty Hopson registered 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, going 6-of-11 from the floor and 2-of-4 from the three-point line.

Oklahoma City grabbed 11 steals to help create 26 Salt Lake City turnovers while scoring 18 fast break points to the Stars’ five.

Two-way player Tyler Cavanaugh led the Stars with 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting and five rebounds.

Up next, the Blue return home to host the Santa Cruz Warriors on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. inside Cox Convention Center.
