PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz., Jan. 23, 2018 – The Oklahoma City Blue (16-14) fell to the Northern Arizona Suns (12-16), 116-114, on Tuesday afternoon.
Oklahoma City was up 106-85 with just under nine minutes to go in the fourth quarter before Northern Arizona went on a 27-5 run to pull ahead 112-111. The Blue was able to knot the game at 114 apiece with seven seconds remaining until two free throws from Xavier Silas put the Suns in the lead and time expired before Javan Felix was able to get off a three-point jumper.
On assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dakari Johnson led the team with 28 points on 13-for-16 shooting, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
The Blue controlled the game from tipoff through the third quarter, jumping out to an early 12-point lead, ending the first quarter at 31-19. Oklahoma City then went up by as many as 21 at the start of the fourth. The Suns never held a lead until the final two minutes of play.
Oklahoma City outscored Northern Arizona 60-24 in the paint and outrebounded them 55-41 while shooting 50.6 percent from the field.
Bryce Alford and two-way player PJ Dozier each logged double-doubles as Alford notched 27 points, 11 rebounds and two assists while going 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. Dozier tallied 17 points, 13 rebounds and three assists.
For the Suns, Silas registered 30 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
The Blue will take on the Santa Cruz Warriors next on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, Calif.
