Spurs’ Strong Third Quarter Stops Blue

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 17, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (2-3) fell to the Austin Spurs (5-2), 107-87, on Friday night.

The Spurs went a 17-4 run midway through the third quarter, giving them a 21-point lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. Forward Jaron Blossomgame led Austin with a game-high 24 points.

Oklahoma City struggled offensively to open the game, but a strong performance from the bench, punctuated by a buzzer-beating three from Rashawn Thomas, left OKC only trailing 27-19 going to the second quarter.

The Blue came back in the second quarter and led 47-45 with a little over a minute left in the half. The Spurs closed on an 8-2 run, sparked by a three-pointer from Jeff Ledbetter, and led 53-47 going into halftime.

Thomas led the Blue with a career-high-tying 16 points. Two-way player Daniel Hamilton had his fifth straight game in double figures, scoring 15 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.

Oklahoma City will play in its first back-to-back of the season, facing the Texas Legends tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.
