HIDALGO, Texas, Feb. 13, 2018 – The Oklahoma City Blue (20-17) fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (23-17), 132-121 on Tuesday night.
Oklahoma City trailed by as many as 29 points in the game, but cut its deficit down to 10 points after Justin Leon hit two free throws with just under four minutes in the fourth. RJ Hunter hit three-pointers on three consecutive possessions to put the game away for the Vipers.
In his second start of the season, Leon scored 22 points to go with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Hunter scored 26 points off the bench for Rio Grande Valley.
The Vipers opened the game strong and led by nine after the first quarter, but went on a 13-0 run midway through the second quarter that helped them pull away.
Five players were in double figures for the Blue, led by Rashawn Thomas who scored a career-high 24 points on 9-17 shooting from the field.
After the All-Star break, Oklahoma City will face the Canton Charge on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
