NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2017 – Oklahoma City Blue head coach Mark Daigneault today was named the NBA Development League Coach of the Month for games played in January.
Daigneault guided Oklahoma City to a 9-2 record in January, with seven wins coming on the road. Under Daigneault, the team held opponents to a league-low 98.5 points per game and boasted the highest net rating with 8.8 in January. With 21 wins this season, the Blue has already surpassed last year’s total of 19 victories.
Daigneault is in his third season as head coach after posting a 47-53 record in his first two seasons. In 2014-15, Daigneault led the Blue to an appearance in the NBA D-League Western Conference Semifinals. Prior to joining Oklahoma City, he spent the previous four years working under Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Billy Donovan at the University of Florida.
Other coaches who received consideration for the monthly award were Los Angeles’ Coby Karl, Northern Arizona’s Ty Ellis, Raptors 905’s Jerry Stackhouse, Santa Cruz’s Casey Hill and Texas’ Bob MacKinnon.
