OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 1, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (5-6) downed the Salt Lake City Stars (1-10), 100-82, on Friday night.
The Blue held a 52-46 lead at halftime until a PJ Dozier three-pointer from Daniel Hamilton sparked an 11-2 run midway through the third quarter that helped expand the lead to as many as 25 points in the fourth.
“It was a good win for our team, specifically on the defensive end,” Head Coach Mark Daigneault said. “I thought we did a really good job for the majority of 48 minutes, especially out of halftime; defensively forcing them into the types of plays we wanted them to make, and then sharing the ball on offense. Good team win.”
Markel Brown led the Blue with a career-high 21 points, three rebounds and two assists on 8-for-12 shooting. Michael Cobbins also notched a new career-best with 19 points, four rebounds and three steals, going 8-of-9 from the field. Dozier was perfect from the floor, draining each of his five shots, three of which came from long range.
There were six Oklahoma City players in double figures as the Blue outscored the Stars 56-28 in the paint and 17-6 in transition. OKC shot 54.3 percent on the night, snagging 15 steals to generate 25 points off 23 Salt Lake City turnovers.
Naz Mitrou-Long led Salt Lake City with a game-best 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Tomorrow night, the Blue will wrap their second back-to-back of the season as they take on the Greensboro Swarm at the Cox Convention Center at 7 p.m.
