OKLAHOMA CITY, March 5, 2017 – The Oklahoma City Blue (28-14) lost a close contest to the Northern Arizona Suns (19-20), 91-85, on Sunday afternoon.
The Blue trailed 86-81 with 3:59 left in the game, but cut the Suns’ lead to two points on a layup from Daniel Hamilton. A three-pointer from Shaquille Harrison and a layup from Josh Gray put the game away for Northern Arizona.
“I thought our defense kept us in it and gave us a chance down the stretch,” Head Coach Mark Daigneault said. “Offensively it was not a good enough night to win in a sustainable fashion. We’ve got to use the next two days to get better and get ready for Wednesday.”
Hamilton led the team with 26 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists for his 11th double-double of the season.
Oklahoma City trailed 52-44 at halftime and fell behind by 11 in the third quarter. The team rallied with an 18-4 run over the last 5:47 of the period and led 72-69 going into the final frame.
Hamilton and Alex Caruso combined for nine points over that stretch. Caruso finished with 11 points and a career-high 10 assists, his first double-double of the year.
Kaleb Tarczewski made his first start of the season, tallying 20 points on 8-of-8 shooting from the field. On assignment from the Thunder, Josh Huestis added four points and six rebounds.
Up next for the Blue is Field Trip Day in the Chesapeake Energy Arena versus the Long Island Nets on March 8 at 11 a.m.
